November is probably the ideal time to visit Mexico as the rains are over and the land is still fresh but the peak season has not yet begun. This is when the northern regions begin to cool down but the southern parts of the country remain warm. Along the Pacific coast, temperatures average around 75°F (24°C) during the daytime, still hot enough for some beach time, whilst central regions, including Mexico City, register daytime temperatures around 72°F (22°C). What is the weather like in Mexico in November?

The weather in November in Mexico marks the transition from the rainy season to the dry season in many parts of the country.

In the northern regions and Baja California, such as cities like Tijuana and Mexicali, November can bring cooler temperatures, especially during the evenings and nights. Daytime temperatures are usually comfortable, ranging from the mid-60s°F to mid-70s°F (18°C to 24°C).

Central Mexico, including cities like Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Morelia, experiences pleasant and mild weather in November. Days are usually warm, with temperatures ranging from the high 60s°F to mid-70s°F (20°C to 24°C), while nights can be cooler, dropping into the 50s°F (10°C to 15°C).

On the Pacific Coast, cities like Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco enjoy pleasant temperatures, with highs in the low to mid-80s°F (27°C to 30°C) and mild nights in the 60s°F (15°C to 20°C). The rainy season is typically coming to an end, and you can expect fewer rainfall days

Is Mexico warm in November?

Travelers are greeted by long, warm days in November as average temperatures hover around 75°F (24°C) across the country. It's ideal for both sun-seekers and city explorers. Inland, in Mexico City, the climate is mild with daytime averages of around 72°F (22°C), whilst the coastal city of Acapulco enjoys warmer temperatures of around 86°F (30°C).

Mérida on the Yucatan Peninsula is hotter still, experiencing daytime averages of 88°F (31°C), whilst captivating Oaxaca has a more comfortable climate in November with temperatures typically around 79°F (26°C). Tijuana in the north experiences more moderate temperatures of around 70°F (21°C).

Is November a good time to visit Mexico?

This is generally considered the best time to visit Mexico. Falling outside the peak tourist season, temperatures tend to be comfortable and mild, plus there are far fewer crowds compared to the warmer winter months.

As well as being the month of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the landscape in November is often lush and vibrant due to it being the tail-end of the rainy season, and coastal areas like Acapulco and Cancun offer warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine, making them ideal for a bit of beach time.

Average rainfall in Mexico in November

The weather in November in Mexico is generally dry, but regional rainfall patterns mean occasional tropical showers which clear the air. Mexico City is relatively dry, with an average rainfall of about 0.6 to 1.2 inches (15 to 30 mm) during the month, whilst Acapulco experiences a more moderate amount of rainfall - around 3.9 to 5.9 inches (100 to 150 mm) of rain, often delivered as short, afternoon showers.

The rain in Mérida is more frequent in November but again tends to be in short and intense downpours, often followed by clear skies. Oaxaca receives moderate rainfall, with an average of approximately 1.2 to 1.6 inches (30 to 40 mm), whilst Tijuana has a relatively dry climate in November with an average rainfall of about 0.6 to 0.8 inches (15 to 20 mm) during the month.

Festivals and events in Mexico in November

There are several festivals and events that take place in Mexico during the month of November. These include:

  • The Day of the Dead (All Saints’/Souls’ Day, and its eve) Nov 1–2. Offerings are made to ancestors’ souls, frequently with picnics and all-night vigils at their graves, and people build shrines in their homes to honor their departed relatives. Sweetmeats and papier-mâché statues of dressed-up skeletons give proceedings a rather gothic air. Head for cemeteries to see the really spectacular stuff, or to Pátzcuaro.
