Hiking the Dragon’s Back

One of the easiest coastal hikes in Hong Kong, the Dragon’s Back takes just a couple of hours to complete, and at weekends you’ll find plenty of other people along the trail.

Catch bus #9 from Shau Kei Wan MTR station and get off at To Tei Wan Tsuen, where there’s a roadside parking bay and a billboard showing a map of the route, then follow the track up onto the ridgetop Dragon’s Back itself. The ridge runs north, via views of Stanley and beautiful seascapes, before eventually descending to Big Wave Bay, where there are beaches and snack stalls, and a final 2km walk along a vehicle track south to Shek O.

Rough Guides tip: When planning a trip to Hong Kong, be sure to choose the best place to stay in the city.
