Weather Egypt in June

Summer arrives, bringing some serious heat. The sun is strong, especially in the southern regions, and this is when Egypt really settles into its dry, hot season. Here is our complete guide to the weather in Egypt in June.

The weather in Egypt in June at a glance

  • Egypt's June is definitely hot with average temperatures of 73-97°F (23-36°C)
  • You might find the best times to explore will be the mornings and evenings, especially down south.
  • Maybe skip southern Egypt this month, but the Red Sea coast can still be nice.
  • The heat keeps some tourists away, so major attractions are less crowded.

Is June a good time to visit Egypt?

June marks the beginning of Egypt’s full-blown summer, and the heat is certainly something to contend with — especially in cities like Luxor and Aswan, where it can get particularly scorching. However, if you’re heading to the Red Sea, June is a prime month. The beaches of Sharm el-Sheikh and Dahab are in full swing, with warm waters ideal for diving and snorkeling.

It’s a bit more challenging to sightsee in places like Cairo or the Nile Valley, so if you plan on visiting the Pyramids or ancient temples, start early in the morning and take it slow. Indoor attractions like museums offer a cool break from the heat.

If you can handle the higher temperatures, the weather in Egypt in June can still make for a rewarding time to visit. Just pack plenty of sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take advantage of cooler evenings for outdoor activities.
